Okay, first I need to make a confession. I am a BMW fanboy and so, everything I ever do in my life is for my love of BMW. My time with the ‘25 ix1 was bittersweet. After driving around Pune at night, my range anxiety was through the roof as the screen showed just 35%. Since we had to leave for Mumbai the next morning, I took the ix1 to a charging station around midnight to juice it up to 100%. The expected time was 2½ hours and that’s how I started writing this article.
After making my all-time Premier League eleven, I checked my watch. Just 10 minutes down. This was going to be a long night. I sat inside the car and connected CarPlay on the crisp, high-res digital screen. It’s honestly overwhelming to use with too many functions but that’s the thing with modern cars. But, it looks futuristic and the cabin is plush with soft-touch materials. After blasting my favorites on the booming Harmon Kardon sound system, I had kadak masala chai at 1am. Refreshed, I went back to the ix1 to kill some more time.
I have always wanted to watch Suits LA and so, I went to the back-seat to stretch my legs and Netflix. Thank God for the LWB! The massive legroom, perfectly reclined seats and those soft pillows on the headrest made me so comfy. The backseat is the party place in the ix1 and rolling around the city in quietness makes the ix1 feel at home. Anyway, spoiler alert, Suits LA is boring. I miss the bromance of Harvey and Mike, the savage replies of Donna and Mike and Rachel’s dramatic love story. Sorry, nothing can beat the OG Suits!
Finally, it was fully charged! The time was 3am and I wanted to crash on my bed more than anything. I went through the usual routine of switching-off all the ADAS functions which are actually more dangerous in our Indian conditions. Reached home. I am so sleepy now, I’ll just crash on my bed. Hey Siri, remind me to complete this article tomorrow…….
