Whenever we have to buy a Luxury car, the brands we always tend to go to are Mercedes, BMWs and Audi's, and why shouldn't we! All 3 brands are German, they provide the best luxury, safety and performance for the money. But many brands have challenged the big 3 Germans in the past like Toyota’s Lexus and Honda’s Acura but for the most part have always lacked in some areas. Genesis Motor, commonly referred to as Genesis, is the luxury vehicle division of the South Korean vehicle manufacturer Hyundai and now they are taking a crack at the luxury game and this is their latest creation the G80.

Initially envisioned to be launched as Hyundai's new luxury brand, the Hyundai Genesis was launched in 2003. But later on the Genesis brand was officially announced as an independent marque on 4 November 2015. And now, in 2020, they have launched the new Genesis G80. The car was launched online on March 30,2020 due the Covid-19 Pandemic. Starting from the outside, the car has a massive grill that looks like a shield, and the overall design of the car looks very bold. The car does look futuristic but the designers haven't gone all out to make it a full on futuristic car with too many curves and bold lines.  The boot is 433 litres which is decent enough for a sedan.

The car is powered by a variety of engines which start with a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol unit which makes 304hp and 422Nm of torque. There's also a more powerful 3.5-litre turbocharged V6 unit making 380hp and 530Nm of torque. There is also a diesel engine on offer which is a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder unit producing 210hp and 441Nm of torque. You can select a rear-wheel drive option or also an All-wheel drive system and the car has a 8-speed shifttronic transmission.

But the real magic of this car is in the inside. Starting with the rear seats, there are electronically adjustable seats which are ventilated seats for ultimate luxury. There are two 9.2inch rear infotainment screens with radio, bluetooth, navigation and much more. In the front it gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster placed behind the new dual-spoke steering, and a larger 14.5-inch infotainment display sitting on top the dashboard. The whole cabin is finished in a mix of leather, wood and brightwork. The interior just looks very luxurious.

But the main question that arises, when does Genesis come to India!? Well there were rumors that Genesis Motors will debut in India in 2020-2021 with their SUV the GV70 in the country but now due to this pandemic, we are not quite sure about it. Let's hope that Genesis comes to India as soon as they can.
The G80 definetely competes with the E-class and the 5Series and is a worthy competition for the 2 luxury brands.
We cannot wait for the brand to reach India and we experience the luxury brand on our soil.
